Friends and Neighbors,

We have to accept the facts placed before us. As residents in a manufactured home park (MPHs), we are under a well planned, well funded, and precisely executed assault on our homes by the corporate park owners.  This is not an isolated act, but a scheme that has been launched statewide by those that have made vast fortunes as landowners of Manufactured Home Parks

Here in Oceanside it started as a breach of law against residents in MiraMar MHP.  That has been expanded to a DeControl Ordinance authored by Kern and the City Council, which we have blocked with 15,400 signatures, but now goes to ballot in June 2012.

Just this week similar battles came to a head in

Oceanside http://www.nctimes.com/news/local/oceanside/article_7519e2c0-b2ec-5040-aa1e-38d9954be4c1.html Calimesa  http://www.pe.com/localnews/stories/PE_News_Local_D_ehearing16.3b91284.html Milpitas  http://milpitas.patch.com/articles/mobile-home-park-residents-protest-rent-hike  Chula Vista, Capitola, and more communities across the State.

The word bites and tactics used by big business against the homeowners are similar in each city, and reading one news article is almost like reading all of them.   How did we get to the place where we find ourselves today?    This is the question we have to ask and develop the best answer for responding in our defense. The answers needs to be one as we develop universally, to have our own strategic plans to salvage our homes, security and life savings from the attack which we are facing.

This is a time when everyone in a MHP needs to be in communication, and cooperation with all of the others in our state.  How to do this.  One way is join in and participate with GSMOL a statewide league of homeowners.  Another is to take personal responsibility for our situations and form or join local organizations like OMHA Oceanside Manufactured Homeowners Alliance.

In the final step we have to open up and support those working for our benefit by contributing to the cause.  Not pennies, but dollars. Not just membership fees of but ongoing contributions to a resource fund that will provide the campaign programs and advertising programs that will take our message to our neighbors and to those that vote in our communities.

If we cannot afford to help pay for our protection now, then how on earth will be able to pay the higher rents which will be forced on us by the corporate and governmental bodies?
